Shots Ring Out

Lufkin, Texas has been a busy place for activists ever since Vision America opened their headquarters to town. From rallies to protect the Ten Commandments featuring great family men/father figures like Alan Keyes (Vice President of the Homophobic Parents of America), to rifle practice assults on Planned Parenthood, East Texas is still a hotspot for intolerance.

The nut in this photo is picketing a meeting of physicians claiming that America doctors specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology are "abortionists" Scary stuff.

The same guy is down at the local Planned Parenthood office spreading the same message. Were the four bullets that entered the Planned Parenthood building in Lufkin, Texas a few years ago the result of constant harrassments, picketing, and hate speech? Yes. Was the decision to fire at the building attempted murder? Yes. Thank God no one was injured or murdered in Lufkin at Planned Parenthood, but the Gospel of Hate and intolerance resulting in gun fire should not be a huge surprise. Keep your Army of God away from my home or business please.

Lufkin is a nice city thanks to many people -including a few philantrophic Jewish Heros named Temple. It only takes one gunshot guys and Lufkin becomes another city like Jasper, Texas with a name associated with hate. With all the nonsense coming out of Lufkin lately, you have to wonder the good sensible minded and tolerant folks in Lufkin realizes that the influence of Christian nuts like Scarborough has them on the fast track be the new Vidor of Texas. Not good.
Is it possible that the gunman was all worked up from a Lufkin for Life protest? Yes. Lufkin for Life's spokesperson Barb Fourney was missing her brain the day in 2005 when she called PP employees and physicians "child molesters" at a news conference. (her phone is 936-875-2951) Old sparky is a cheap ride away for all you gun carrying friends of the Army of God.
Thank God kids in Lufkin have Planned Parenthood to keep them alive, to provide counseling and testing and safe sex options. Some day hopefully the Holy fanatics will listen to educated physicians versus the guy in the pulpit on Sunday, or AGAPE Press.

Right wing extremists and their Army of God should do East Texas a favor and retreat into their windowless little churches to praise the Lord and allow those who choose to go to Planned Parenthood a safe trip without the fear of being harassed or murdered.
The Gospel of Hate is nasty campaign in America - and in Lufkin.

American Vision

To me it would seem that a basic Vision for America would be Freedom.

It is amazing to me how much time these ultra right wing "Christian" nationalists like the Holy Rev. Rick Scarborough can spend involving themselves in the lives of others who may not even need or want their intervention and concern. Once upon a time people who called themselves "conservative" also were advocates of less government, and the freedoms (for the most part) to do as you please. Not anymore. Busybodies like the Concerned Women of America, the Eagle Forums Phyllis Schafley (Chairman of Homophobic Parents of America), James Kennedy, James Dobson, Ann Coulter, Peggy Folger, and Rick Scarborough want to be so involved in everyone's business all the time. It is not my Vision for America, or the average citizens American Vision.

The Gospel of Hate agenda pushes time munching issues like flag burning, the Ten Commandments, and prayer in school. Not important fellas considering we are spending a billion dollars a week over in Iraq.

These guys are very narrow minded Christian Dominionists with no tolerance for any other religion. They are convinced that America should not be one where Church and State are separate. Many advocate a future in which Gay and Lesbians citizens are put in jail or put to death. How very Hitler of them, isn't it? These guys must have a different Bible in the house than what we had in ours.

To Rick Scarborgh and the ultra right wing subset of Christian leaders:

Would you agree now to call a truce and agree not to get into my business if I stay out of yours? All I really want in this World is to be left the fuk alone. I am happy that our God made me gay. I am not changing or want to change. I demand the freedom to live in an America which has promised "Liberty and Justice for All" I see no asterick after the word "All" guys - no phrase in little letters in the footnote which reads "Unless You are Homosexual." My gayness is not my choice. I am the expert on that guys, not you. Your Ex Gay camps and seminars and therapies are nothing short of fraudulent. I realize the dilemna you have with what to do with these folks other than pray they do not end up on the cover of Time magazine as did John Paulk. They are sort of like a tired group of brainwashed zombies or carnival show freaks that won't go away.

It is amazing the amount of advice you have for families considering the horrific divorce rate in America and sad state of some of your own. Please just stop saying that Gay people will ruin the institution of marriage. You straight folks have already done an excellent job of that. My wish is that you might stay out of my house considering the sad shape of your own. Our family has alot of Pride and a good reason to be proud. In the early eighties the Religious Right's response to the AIDS crisis was usually non existant or hostile so we organized and took care of our own.

If the World is ending soon why don't you guys you should probably seek refuge in your stockpiled 20,000 seat mega churches and pray until year knees wear out. Before you head for the bunker, please grab the entire Fred Phelps Church Family of Topeka, Kansas. Fred may be a closeted old gay pervert but we are most happy to have you take him with you. We'll stay here and organize a fabulous party and invite all of our allies and friends.

Here are a few people are groups with a real American Vision based on Christian views you might be interested in checking out Holy Rev. Rick Scarborough and friends. Every one of these groups are the real HEROS of God.

  1. United Church of Christ and their Still Speaking Campaign Be sure to search for an download the commercial "All the People" --it is beautiful.
  2. Soulforce founded by Jerry Falwell's biographer Mel White. Amazing stuff thank you Mel.
  3. FaithInAmerica.info. This campaign is financed by a a brilliant man named Mitchell Gold. Mr. Gold is the founder of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Furniture in North Carolina. I think it is safe to assume that Gold isn't too concerned that you might boycott his company. (if you already haven't) Seymour Floor Mirrors just don't go with framed copies of the ten commandments.

"Mitchell Gold, the founder of Faith In America, delivered an inspiring message. Gold, who is Jewish, traced the roots of religion-based bigotry, in part by retracing his own life experiences. His first experience with religion-based bigotry came as a 5th grader living in Trenton, New Jersey in a predominantly Christian neighborhood. When he rode his bicycle over to the person he considered his best friend one day and discovered a birthday party taking place in his honor, he asked of his friend why he had not been invited. His friend explained to him that he couldn't invite him because he was Jewish. He recounted his second childhood experience when a neighborhood kid he considered a friend ordered him off his property. When he asked why, the boy told him that the nuns at the Catholic Church he had attended told him bad things about Jews that day in school" - - FaithinAmerica.info website

Rick Scarborough please leave us alone. Your Vision for America is not my American Vision.

KKK, GO AWAY!

In high school growing up we frequently played Vidor High School in football and basketball. I remember the black kids on my teams were always scared to death to travel to Vidor for a game. Some refused. Black people always knew that you didnt want to be caught near Vidor with a flat tire once the sun had set.

The good thing that I remember well about basketball games against Vidor were always a complete butt kicking blowout thanks to my high school which was slightly integrated versus most of the districts in East Texas. Today I appreciate that one busload of black kids that the district sent over to my white boy schools during elementary and high school. Most of the kids were the children of teachers and the more wealthy of the blacks in my hometown, but regardless of how they got there they were good for both me and my schoolmates.

The sad thing about East Texas is that black people haven't had the opportunities or desire in many cases to move into the more "white" neighborhoods. I thank God for the diversity of where I live today. My next door neighbors are blacks and gays and asians and hispanics - - seems like a million miles away from the small towns of East Texas.

Vidor is one of those cities with close ties to the Texas KKK. From what I remember it was full of big fat ladies in the bleachers during our games. Lot's of tacky people driving trucks and living in trailer parks or deep in the woods. Even thirty years ago the place was just full of all types of fundamentalists churches talking in tongues and wearing weird clothing, etc. Pentacostal women with long hair and longer dresses is the visual I see in my head when I think of Vidor.

Of the 11,000 folks recorded in the 1990 US Census, only 253 claimed to be Hispanic, and exactly ZERO were black. In the past many of the Mayors and city employees were KKK people. The KKK is "so accepted in Vidor that Klan members periodically sell peanut brittle at the local Wal-Mart in hopes of recruiting children and their parents into the organization."

Check out the basic goals for America in this KKK newsletter and then compare it to what you might see on the religious right websites such as VisionAmerica.us. I am sure they probably share the same email lists at times based on their goals to better America.

Lately all the KKK leaders have been killing each other from what I am reading in the Press. Today, all the KKK people I see in the news seems to be a very small subsegment of our society - mostly uneducated redneck types disguised as Christians with values.

Out To Lunch

HELLO!?
All you big shot Christian leaders/ family men/telelevangelists of America. While you were OUT TO LUNCH dining with Tom Delay and Jack at the Washington Hilton genocide and murders are being committed all over the World.

You are so quick to react when a Middle Eastern guy finds that his neighbors want to murder him because he is a new convert to Christianity or outspoken, but where the Hell are you when young men in Iran are being hung for being gay simply for being branded as gay. How on earth could some of you guys not empathize with the straight kids being murdered in Iran who were perceived to have been homosexual, especially all you big Christian leaders with feminine mannerisms such as Gary Bauer and Ralph Reed and Alan Chambers. Even you Rev. Scarbourough has been labeled in the press as one with a "high pitched voice."

Once upon a time in America Christian ministers were concerned about civil and human rights. If you can't speak out against the murder of children, don't call yourself Christian. Speak up and do something positive for humanity as would a man of faith and good Christian values.

Instead, you are busy in D.C. running from meeting to meeting, to Fox News, back to the War on Christians Conference conferenc, etc. A good Christian leader would not have his flock on their knees praying for Tom Delay but would instead be loading the team of Holy leaders on a bus to picket the Iranian embassy instead.

Gay folks are with you guys every single time a foreign government or its fanatic extremist citizens plan to burn Christians in the public square --where the hell are you when Matthew Shepard or James Byrd is murdered or a young kid in Iran like the two boys in the post here are being hung by extremists running the Country of Iran?

You guys just are not very Christian at all, really. You are very much OUT TO LUNCH Rev. Rick Scarborough of Vision America Mobilzed, Inc. of Lufkin Texas.

Religious Intolerance

It is really sad and pathetic to know that educated, talented gay men and lesbians in the USA are moving to Canada in record numbers to find freedom and peace. Forget the Statue of Liberty as a global icon of Freedom - many gays are immigrating North to find a better life. Vision America and Rick Scarborough and the KKK and other right wing fundamentalists want all illegals immediately arrested and deported South of the border. All I can say is make sure our Bozo Texas President gets lots of buses ordered. Mass deportation just isn't the proper way to solve a problem no fault of any political party or past President.
Note to self. It is not only the right wing Christians who are intolerant.Someone needs to force feed all these extremists an afternoon at the US Holocoust Museum. These fundamentalists come in all sorts of religions. How completely shameful that intolerant Jewish clerics join right wing US fundamentalists and Islamic terrorists to stop freedom of speech in Jerusalem...that is if anything is left over there when the last bomb drops.
Jerusalem religions united against gay parade

MITCH POTTER story on www.thestar.com
MIDDLE EAST BUREAU

JERUSALEM—At first glance it has all the hallmarks of a miracle: virtually the entire orthodox leadership of the Holy City — Jewish, Muslim and Christian alike — are gathering in an unprecedented show of unity for the betterment of Jerusalem.
A long-overdue edict of peace, perhaps? A decree against the spiralling violence between Israelis and Palestinians? A crusade to end poverty, even?
Try none of the above. The target of Jerusalem's multi-denominational jihad is the imminent arrival of gays and lesbians for the upcoming World Pride Parade.
It won't be the first time Pride has taken Jerusalem. But none of the previous four parades registered more than a fraction of the religious rage building against the Aug. 10 march, which marks the culmination of a full week of events billed as World Pride 2006.
Originally slated for last summer but postponed due to security fears relating to the Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem program marks the second-ever
World Pride gathering, following the 2000 edition in Rome.
The outcry against the gathering comes from all of Jerusalem's religious quarters, whose rabbis, imams and priests have cited ancient text condemning homosexuality as an "abomination" and the parade itself as a "desecration."
Yesterday, the storm gathered anew with the discovery in Jerusalem of a flyer promising a reward of 20,000 shekels ($5,000) to "anyone who brings about the deaths of one of the residents of Sodom and Gomorrah."
The anonymous leaflet included diagrams on how to make a Molotov cocktail, which the authors nicknamed a "Schlissel Special" — a reference to Yishai Schlissel, an Israeli Ultra Orthodox Jew who is serving 12 years in prison for stabbing three people at last year's Jerusalem Pride parade.
While Jerusalem police investigate the leaflet, supporters and critics of the event traded accusations, some calling it a hoax, others a symptom of a dangerous intolerance that permeates the city.
Officials with
Jerusalem Open House, the gay and lesbian centre organizing World Pride, called the leaflet only the latest example of "an ongoing incitement campaign against the gay community."
"There has been a very cynical coming together of all religions. And instead of coming together on the great and important issues confronting our world they are coming together to hate and demonize," said Haggai El-Ad, executive director of Jerusalem Open House.
"We feel this is an abuse of religion. It doesn't diminish from the honour of gay or lesbian individuals. It does greatly damage the real essence of what faith and belief is all about. And damages greatly the image of Jerusalem."
Behind the scenes, the World Pride project in Jerusalem includes a substantial Toronto connection, with a delegation of nine organizers from Pride Toronto lending moral and logistical support.
"We know there's been a backlash. We sat down and talked about it for a long time before deciding that as the biggest Pride event in the world, Toronto had to be there for our friends in Jerusalem," Natasha Garda, senior co-chair of Pride Toronto told the Star.
"There is a risk. But when you come from a place like Toronto where we have a million people coming together and no violence, it is easy to forget that much of the world doesn't live in that kind of freedom. So we can say, `Lucky us.' But we can also step out of our reality and offer to help Jerusalem any way we can."
Haifa University sociologist Oz Almog, a leading scholar in the study of Israeli culture, said the controversy exposes how fundamentally different Jerusalem is from the rest of the country. "Jerusalem is really a separate country in a way. It includes the darker, most prejudiced, least tolerant side of Israeli society. And when it comes to religious extremes, there is no big difference between Jews, Christians and Muslims. Fundamentalists are fundamentalists," he said.
"But the context is that this is part of a much larger battle in Israeli society, which in the main is becoming more pluralistic all the time. Modernity is coming like a tsunami at the Ultra Orthodox; they already feel under siege because of the Internet and other changes.
"And that is perhaps a problem with what is coming to Jerusalem. Although I count myself as a pluralist, I worry that this may be seen by the religious side as a declaration of war, a provocation ..." Organizer El-Ad acknowledged an element of provocation, but only to the extent that World Pride might "open a non-violent conversation in the context of Jerusalem's diversity.
"Thanks to
Pride Toronto, who have led the way as great friends and wonderful allies, we feel empowered not to face these challenges alone," said El-Ad.

Real Faith In America

Think about it. All the good in the World being postponed due to the GOSPEL OF HATE agenda of the right wing religious fundamentalists and their organizations. Sad. Very "Un"Christian.

So many dollars and time is wasted in the gay community fighting these giant Goliath devils and their well financed groups. All we do is constantly respond to the hate message of the Christian Right. You get tired of throwing dollars to fight them then you start to raise hell then you ACT UP and say "Enough is Enough" you assholes.

Imagine the accomplishments these Christian groups could brag about on a global basis had they directed their millions of dollars to conquering a disease or fighting hunger. Years ago big Christitan ministers were more interested in missionary work overseas than in legislating and attempting to further restrict the Freedoms of others. Not today. Instead these guys stay home to beg for money and build up huge email distribution lists and jet set all over the Country spreading fear and lies and misinformation. and .
It is getting more and more annoying. When you look at their power and allies you really have to just laugh when they claim that America is being destroyed due to the persecution of Christians. (War on Christians Conference was the laughingstock of DC awhile back and was organized by the Holy Rev. Rick Scarborough of Vision America in Lufkin, Texas.

Sad to say it but I just don't really consider the big Christian organizations out there as all that "charitable" anymore with the exception of one or two mass feeders battling hunger in Africa.

These days the HEROS are groups like Doctors Without Borders, Lance Armstrong, Bill and Melinda Gates, Micheal Dell, Warren Buffet, and even East Texas' own TLL Temple Foundation which are doing the most good in this World. The fanatic Christian groups like Vision America are all about taking care of their own American families - or better yet - the neighbors who they feel need sometype of Christian makeover.

Pardon me, but I would rather choose my own form and degree of religion here in America. Kindly back the hell out of my life, please. Please keep your nasty self out of my life and I will stay out of yours.

Yes, it is true that literally gazzillions of dollars have been wasted by the religious right fanatics in an effort to push their Gospel of Hate agenda

Check out the Faith in America ad campaign which I think hits home for a lot of people who are starting to ask what they hell are these fundamentalist thinking? Why are they in the Press so much lately considering theirs claims? Why are they advocating so many radical ideas based on hate and intolerance of others? Others may just be fed up in that they have ruined the Texas Republican Party.

Fortunately soon things will get better when all these old men are dead. Since Rick Scarbough is younger than many of the national leaders of hate we'll Expose the true Christian that he is here on this web blog. Hope you enjoy the laughs and take action to say no to his hate.

This is a great campaign financed by Mitchell Gold and his business partner. Gold is a HERO for his philanthropic efforts to make the World a better place. http://www.faithinamerica.info/

P.S. >>If you live in a trailer, stockpile food, picket abortion clinics, attend a suburban megachurch with 2000 seats or more, or home school the kids (or all of the above as advocated by the Holy Rev. Rick Scarborough ---you may have ever heard of Mitchell Gold.

Vision America $$$

Before Granny writes out a check to the Holy Rev. Rick Scarborough of Vision America or Stop Activist Judges , or one of the numerous websites soliciting money on the internet, ask a few questions. Ask for his Form 990s. We will post them here soon for all the World to view. If you have given money to this group you may get upset with what you see. Smart non profits post this type of disclosure on their websites, but not Vision America who obviously went to the Tom Delay school of non profit management. (unaccredited)

  • Vision America is not a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial accountability although it appears that every other group has joined. Why is that?
  • Vision America's Form 990's filed with the IRS will will shock you! In addition to paying himself a nice fat salary the guy spends a fortune on travel. Guess you just have to be on the go when you are a big shot religious mover and shaker! Not surprising that the suppliers for Vision America which are on the Form 990's are in many cases the same ones used by Mr. Tom Delay (former Texan!)crooks like Abramson and America's most dishonest Christian - - Ralph Reed.

Even more odd is the question of where all this money came from? Did Holy Rev. Rick's buddy Tom Delay come up with some scam to money launder some Indian tribe's cash in order to push their legislation through Congress? I guess the financing could be coming from the Holy Rev. Jerry Falwell as reported, but who knows. Other options which are possible might be

  • East Texas' most right wing chicken farmet businessperson Bo Pilgrim.
  • Cult leader the Holy Rev. Moon who attends many of the same functions as Rev. Scarborough and others involved with the Gospel of Hate agenda.
  • Or, It could be channeled via one of Tom Delay's cronies or a Reed type casino money laundering scams.

Big bucks, Christian public relations teams, and book releases at key times have certainly pushed the little backwoods messenger of the Army of God into the spotlight. His self promoting email blasts and websites show you that this Jerry, Jr. Is desperate to be in front of the big lights of network Television studios.

Hometown Memories

Growing up in East Texas I have fond memories of beautiful places like Sam Rayburn Lake, summers at Crystal Beach, and canoeing with my dad on Village Creek. I have been so blessed and lucky in my life to have wonderful supportive parents...parents who back in the early eighties did stuggle with the news of my homosexuality.

While home with my father in late 2005, (who had just discovered that he would probably not live another year due to a rare cancer) I was very touched the day my parents ran out to vote AGAINST the ridiculous Texas
anti-gay marriage amendment efforts to write discrimination into law. It was very obvious that we [gay peoples] would be clobbered due to the hateful agenda of the right wing Christians [disguised as family men] but I can't say that I have ever been more at home and felt so lucky to have two amazing and supportive parents.

You're always proud of where you came from despite some of the craziness you see around you when growing up. As conservative as my parents were on economic issues, I also found that they were progressive in regards to tolerance and inclusion of other races and religions. Im lucky in that because I know that hate breeds hate. Up until recently I had thought that my [GLBT] community might be only a generation/twenty years or so before most of the old bigoted people of the US were gone - as in D-E-A-D. [as in the Wizard of Oz song Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is DEAD!] Young kids just get it these days, they know gay people as their uncles and aunts and teachers and friends, and also from TV shows and networks like MTV who have done an amazing job to raise awareness about hate and intolerance in America.

I fell asleep early the night of the "stop the gays from marrying" election in Texas without even watching a return only to wake up in the bed in a cold sweat after a dream which included a cast of characters including Matthew Shepard, Paul Broussard, James Byrd, and a few other strangers from my childhood. Byrd was murdered about twenty miles from where I was sleeping, Matthew Shepard a thousand miles away in Wyoming, my sad bipolar Aunt Patsy who died years ago after being sucked into a
Christian cult in Pensacola [after the pastor told her that she didnt need her medicine] ; my post college friend Paul Broussard from Houston who was later murdered by teenagers carrying baseball bats in Houston's gay neighborhood Montrose; and a Pentecostal girl who was in my sisters Brownie troop whose name I couldnt recall. It was a random scary dream that got me thinking about all of this hate in the area of Texas where I grew up and in America in general. After a lot of reading I could confirm something I already knew - that Hate Speech often results in Violence and even murder against the targeted minority group.

It really doesn't take a genius to connect the dots of
hate in East Texas, or anywhere for that matter. I find it rather embarrassing that East Texas is known to be a bastion of intolerance and home to many white supremcist groups like the KKK of Vidor and Cleveland, Tx. As a kid I remember that big billboard as you drove into Jasper, Texas on the way to the Lake that read "Jasper, The Jewel of the Forest." Unfortunately little old Jasper, Texas (a city which was one of the least redneck of any of the little towns in East Texas in my opinion ) is now a city (and County) with a major image problem struggling to attract new industry and residents.

Is it any wonder that right wing terrorists shot a hole in the window of Planned Parenthood in Lufkin recently? Lufkin has a new organization named Vision America Mobilized, Inc which is run by a right wing preacher named Rev. Rick Scarborough. Scarborough selected Lufkin for his new headquarters, spreads his message to the local Rotary club, and organizes
public rallies to save America from activist judges and gay marriages. Do speakers like Alan Keyes and Scarborough incite violence and gun shot holes into places like Lufkin's Planned Parenthood? Considering the company that they keep, and those they allow to speak and exhibit at their "Christian rallies" - you have to know that the answer here is absoultely, Yes! You just dont allow nationalist right wing folks into you church or conferences Dr. Scarborough who publish and write books adovcating the death sentence for gays and lesbians, or announce that Katrina might be due to America's gays and lesbians and/or jews.

Have you ever noticed how these right wing Christian fundies seem to be so sensitive when labeled homophobic, and how they get so angry when added to a
Hate Watch List or being identified as a Hate Group? Have you been sick at your stomach lately when you see them in the news claiming that they are being persecuted in America (hell.... They've taken over and ruined the Republican Party, supposedly have weekly conference calls with President George Bush, have seen GB move literally Billions of dollars in social programs to their fundamentalist, often unlicensed Christian non profits, they control Congress, and on and on. I just don't get it.

Open minded People who consider themselves to be both Christian and Patriotic really should maybe dig a little deeper into these fundamentalist hate groups before they blow the window out of another Planned Parenthood Office, or before their mean spirited rhetoric ends the life of another Matthew Shepard, Paul Broussard, or James Byrd. Go out and buy a few of Rick Scarborough books at
Amazon (..and don't spend more than 0.36 cents on any of the used books if possible) Go out and read "Kingdom Coming" by Michelle Goldberg, which is an excellent read. Do it before these uber right wing nutbag Dominionist preachers disguised as Christian Family men brainwashes the rest of America, before their little army of home-schooled bigots are old enough to vote, before you find yourself living in an America which has declared Christianity as the official and only allowed religion, before you find every public building plastered with the ten commandments, and before they attempt (and it will only be an attempt I can assure you) to crimininalize every aspect of life for GLBT people, or throw us in jail, or attempt to kill or "exterminate" us did Hitler.

Do it before the children of this Country are brainwashed and taught to hate by these so called Christians, their global TV and radio networks, and their cash heavy non profit organizations. Say yes to Values which support all families and no to the hate campaigns of people and groups like Alan Keyes, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Vision America, Rick Scarborough, Tom Delay, Ralph Reed, the KKK, the Conservative Citizens of America, Rick Santaorum, Ann Coulter, Gary Bauer, Phyllis Schafely, James Kennedy, Exodus Ministries, Love Won Out, the AFA, and their friends.

We need a Better Vision for America without the tired Un-Christian message of these off the chart right wing fools.
