FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONFERENCE TO ADDRESS ISSUES AT HEART OF TERRI SCHIAVO CASE

March 21, 2005 - Rick Scarborough, temporary chairman of the Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration (organizer of the conference Confronting The Judicial War On Faith – April 7-8 in Washington, DC) offered his heartfelt thanks to Congress and President Bush for passing emergency legislation to save the life of Terri Schiavo.

“Thank God we have a Congress and president who care enough about a life imperiled to intervene in this case,” Scarborough commented.

“Like the 1960s, when state courts ignored clear-cut violations of civil rights, federal intervention is necessary. The legislation that passed in the early hours of this morning will facilitate that.”

Scarborough added, “Our upcoming conference on combating judicial tyranny (Confronting The Judicial War On Faith) could not be more timely or more necessary. It was an activist Florida judge who, in effect, passed a death sentence on Terri Schiavo.”

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (who was instrumental in moving the Schiavo legislation through Congress) will be a keynote speaker at Confronting The Judicial War On Faith.

David C. Gibbs of the Christian Law Association (the attorney for the Schindlers, Terri’s parents) will participate in a panel discussion – “Judges: Abortion And Other Life Issues,” along with former Vatican Ambassador Ray Flynn.

Other speakers at the Confronting The Judicial War On Faith conference include: Senator Sam Brownback, former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, Alan Keyes, Phyllis Schlafly and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.

The conference also will consider Ten Commandments displays and the right of Americans to publicly acknowledge God, judicial nominations, the judicial assault on marriage and remedies to judicial activism.

Moore, another keynote speaker, was removed as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court for refusing an illegal order to take down a 10 Commandments monument.
Scarborough stressed: “This will be an action-oriented conference. Our purpose is to draw up a plan of action to oppose the liberal judges who are abrogating our most precious human rights – including the right to life. Out of it will come a coalition of family groups, ministries and churches dedicated to reversing the tide of the past 40 years.”
